    History

The original Mysore Palace was built by Yaduraya in the 14th century. It was demolished and reconstructed multiple times. The current structure was built after the old palace was gutted by fire during the 1897 Dasara festivities. Construction of the present palace was overseen by the British architect Henry Irwin and completed in 1912. The architectural style is predominantly Indo-Saracenic, incorporating elements of Hindu, Muslim, Rajput, and Gothic styles. The palace houses a number of durbar halls, including the Ambavilasa, the Kalyana Mantapa, and the Gombe Thotta (Doll's Pavilion). It also has a collection of weapons, paintings, and sculptures. The palace is illuminated with nearly 100,000 light bulbs on Sundays and during festivals like Dasara, attracting thousands of visitors.

Its a very beautiful palace in the heart of the city, neatly maintained. Amazing wall paintings, pictures and antique stuff. It is a must visit place. They have proper parking space for vehicles. Entry fee is very nominal. Amazing architecture..

1st of all take a Tour Guide, it is very useful. They will tell you each and every thing related to the palace and important historical events. Take a careful look at the wall paintings of the king and their family they are painted in a manner that it keep looking at you even if you change your location. Visit the palace in morning and also don't forget to visit it in evening at 6.30 pm (ticket open point) for light show from 7 to 7.45 pm. At the end 7.45 pm the palace glows up in light and it was an unique experience.

So Mysore palace is one of a kind experience, I have visited the place twice, and it was just beautiful each time. So a few things should consider before visiting. There is a light show that takes place in the week, in the weekdays it's in kannada and in the weekend it's in English, the entry ticket in the evening is 120 per person, but it's surely worth it .(Not sure if it's everyday) If travelling with a car , parking place is on the right side of the main gate of the palace. Hope this review will help many travellers and explorers ☺️.

A Majestic Glimpse into India's Rich Heritage: Mysore Palace I recently visited the iconic Mysore Palace on a weekend, expecting chaos due to the crowds. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the seamless experience. Despite the throngs of visitors, there was hardly any wait time, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the palace's grandeur. The Mysore Palace is a testament to India's rich culture and heritage, showcasing the elegance and opulence of the Wodeyar dynasty. As I walked through the sprawling complex, I was struck by the intricate architecture, vibrant murals, and stunning stained-glass ceilings. What struck me most was how accessible this piece of history is to the common people. The palace's grandeur is not limited to the elite; instead, it welcomes everyone to experience its splendor. The well-preserved artifacts, ornate furnishings, and beautifully maintained gardens offer a glimpse into the lives of the royal family. The palace's cultural significance extends beyond its physical beauty. It showcases the blend of Hindu, Islamic, and European influences that define Indian architecture. The intricate carvings, colorful tile work, and majestic halls transport visitors to a bygone era. Rating: 5/5 Recommendation: A must-visit for history enthusiasts, cultural aficionados, and anyone seeking a glimpse into India's regal past. Tips: - Visit early morning or late afternoon to avoid peak sun - Wear comfortable shoes for exploring the vast complex - Guided tours available for deeper insights into the palace's history The Mysore Palace is an unforgettable experience, and I highly recommend adding it to your travel bucket list.
