Balmuri Falls is not a natural waterfall but was created when a check dam was built across the Cauvery River for irrigation purposes. The dam's construction led to the formation of the cascading falls, which have since become a popular tourist attraction. The exact date of the dam's construction isn't readily available in online sources, but it transformed the area into a recreational spot. Over time, facilities for tourists have developed around the area, making it a convenient and enjoyable place to visit.
Best place to visit. Kids enjoy a lot. Ample space for car parking with minimal charges. Eateries all along the road. Can spend half a day near this waterfalls.
No proper parking place, rainy season floods will be there so not allowed, other days water will be less from September.. temple is very beautiful and renovated.. peaceful when there is no crowd and unseason.. ancient temples must visit.. surrounding area cleanliness needed.. no government authority or police is there to monitor.. except two near the falls and bridge.. must visit picnic spot.
Nice place for a picnic. You get fried fish in local hotels. Water play is fun as always. But this place is not at all maintained well.
On the banks of Cauvery .. a small dirty village , not developed as a tourist spot . Potential for developing as tourist place is there but we the v people don’t want to keep our places clean … water current was strong , could not walk along the small falls …. But walked along the river on the other side of bridge . Good serene location
