    History

St. Paul's Cathedral was built in the mid-19th century during the British Raj to serve the growing Anglican community in Kolkata. Designed by William Nairn Forbes, the cathedral was consecrated in 1847. The structure underwent several renovations and expansions throughout the years, including the addition of the majestic spire in 1850. Today, it stands as a testament to the architectural prowess of the British era and a symbol of Kolkata's colonial past.

St Paul Cathedral Church is located at Rabindra Sadan and is open from morning 10 am to 6pm. It's a beautiful church from the British era, it has a big ground. When you enter the Cathedral on your right side you can read the list of the pastors from the start of the church. The Church comes under the Diocese of Calcutta in the Church of North India. When you are seated inside the church you will notice the beautiful glass window pane with the pictures. Usually you are only allowed to take pictures outside of the church unless you have permission from someone to take pictures inside. On weekdays the Church is empty and usually the tourists visit, on Sundays they have Church service.

Good place. You can find inner peace here. You can pray as long as you want. Previously it did not have ticket system, not even other famous churches in India have tickets. You have to buy a ticket of Rs 10 to get entry. It is open everyday from 10am to 6pm.
