La Martiniere College was founded through the will of Major General Claude Martin, who bequeathed his fortune to establish educational institutions in Lucknow, Calcutta, and Lyons. Born in Lyons, France, in 1735, Martin arrived in India as a common soldier and rose through the ranks to become a Major General in the service of the Nawab of Awadh. He amassed considerable wealth through various ventures, including trade and military service. Construction of Constantia, the main building of La Martiniere Lucknow, began in 1793 and continued after Martin's death in 1800. The college officially opened its doors to students in 1845. It has since evolved into a renowned institution, preserving its unique heritage and traditions.

This is a lovely location with a magnificent infrastructure. A horse stable, football ground and a connected history. Sometimes, the campus reminds of the aura people feel at Hogwarts in Harry Potter series. Rich library and ICSE AND ISC boards of Indian educational system. Splendid and exquisite!
