The history of Our Lady of Snows Basilica dates back to 1582 when Portuguese missionaries established a small church dedicated to Our Lady of Snows. The church gained prominence due to the miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary, believed to have been brought from Manila. Over the centuries, the church underwent several renovations and expansions. The current basilica structure was completed in 1713. In 1982, the church was elevated to the status of a minor basilica by Pope John Paul II, recognizing its historical and religious significance. The basilica continues to be a center of faith and devotion for Catholics in the region, attracting pilgrims from all over the world.
