The Albert Hall Museum, originally intended as a town hall, was designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob and completed in 1887. Named after King Edward VII (then Prince Albert Edward), the museum's foundation stone was laid during his visit to Jaipur in 1876. Initially housing industrial arts exhibits, it gradually evolved into a comprehensive museum showcasing Rajasthan's diverse artistic and cultural heritage. Over the years, the museum's collection has expanded significantly, encompassing artifacts from various periods and regions, making it a significant repository of the region's history and traditions.

The museum is huge and has a lot of collection acquired by the previous rulers. The most fascinating section was the pottery collections from different parts of the world. The beautiful work from different countries was something I really admired. The wooden paintings, arms and weapon collection, the royal angrakhas and many more things to witness here. If you are a museum and history lover, you will definitely enjoy this place. Moreover the museum architecture itself is gorgeous as a must see place.
Surprisingly, I had never heard of this monument before but as it was part of my travel itinerary, we visited this. It's a place worth visiting. Items in this museum are worth seeing and appreciating. Anyone who appreciates art and history can easily spend hours here.
Albert Hall Museum is one of the best places to explore Jaipur’s history and culture. Located in a beautiful old building in the city, it’s the oldest museum in Rajasthan and a must-visit for history lovers. Inside, you’ll find an amazing collection of artifacts, including ancient sculptures, beautiful paintings, traditional jewelry, and pottery. One of the main highlights is the Egyptian mummy, which fascinates visitors of all ages. Each item tells a story about the rich heritage of Rajasthan and beyond. The museum is also famous for its stunning architecture, combining Indian and European styles. The grand building itself is as much a part of the experience as the exhibits inside. A visit to Albert Hall Museum is both fun and educational, giving you a glimpse of the past in a simple and enjoyable way. If you’re in Jaipur, it’s definitely worth your time!
This museum houses one of the most beautiful artifacts. And go there in the evening. The view from outside when the lights are switched, looks like u r from another Era. There is an Egyptian Mummy embalmed and kept for more than 4 to 5 centuries and the x ray taken in 2011 still shows that the bones are still intact.
