Jal Mahal was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh as a hunting lodge. It's a blend of Rajput and Mughal architectural styles. The palace was renovated in the 18th century by Madho Singh, who added a courtyard and other features. For a long time, the palace remained neglected, with the lake also suffering from pollution. However, restoration efforts in the early 2000s brought the palace and the lake back to their former glory. The restoration focused on preserving the original architecture and enhancing the lake's ecosystem.
What to say about this place! It’s a gem in the city…. Absolutely Serene place to spend early mornings or late evenings. Nice place for bird watchers too. But the place definitely needs cleanliness and people should also refrain from throwing garbage here and there.
It is mahal inside lake. Mahal is 5 storeyed. Three floors are submerged in water and two floors are visible above water level. No entry fee is required as it is beside Amer road. Good place to take pics for posting on social media. No entry is allowed inside this Mahal. You can see it only from edge of the lake. Boating is also prohibited. Park your vehicles away from lake as police charges fine. Don't have roadside food. Try to visit in morning or afternoon as traffic is heavy in evening.
Beautiful fort in the middle of a man made Lake. No access to the fort but nice views just from the street. Unfortunately the shore is littered with garbage and floating breads which wastes the scenery a little bit. Not many crowds which was nice, no need to stop more than 3-5 minutes but worth the stop.on the way back from amber fort
