Construction of the City Palace began in 1729 under Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur. The palace complex was expanded and modified by successive rulers over the centuries. It served as the seat of power for the Kachwaha Rajput rulers and played a significant role in the region's political and cultural landscape. The palace's architecture reflects the evolving architectural styles and influences of the time, incorporating elements of Rajput, Mughal, and European design. Today, a portion of the palace remains the residence of the royal family, while other sections are open to the public as a museum and tourist attraction.

A well maintained heritage palace in Jaipur. A part of it belongs to the royal family and lot of old timer artist present their work at the palace. Worth a visit and if interested one can buy perfumes, paintings, clothing etc at reasonable price. Guides are good for knowing history, but don't fall pray to their advice for buying the goods inside unless you trust your senses.
It’s recommended to visit with a guide, as there’s a wealth of information around the palace that can greatly enhance your experience. The well-maintained museums showcase fascinating royal artifacts, each with its own unique story. Enjoy the rich architecture, with its intricate details, and the vibrant, colorful paintings that bring the palace to life.
Nice place, it is very well maintained. There is an entry fee to enter the museum at a minimal cost. The whole place is beautiful and in the midst of a picturesque place. One part of the fort just next to the main road is closed for all the visitors however you can view the hill region from the other part of the main fort. When you enter inside the premises, you can see how the king enjoyed all the luxuries of life with his many queens. If you opt for a guide, you will get to know a lot of things about the place, the garden (an attempt to grow saffron but failed due to weather) in the lake, the history of summer and winter rooms and how effectively they worked. The view from the windows of the palace gives you a beautiful view of the whole region, must have been awesome for the royal family for sure. The museum talks about life, hobbies, luxuries, clothing and more about the royal family. The armory section is amazing, it has got a lot of weapons to demonstrate, some really amazing ranging from daggers, swords, armors to cannons. The place is totally worth it.
