Meenmutty Falls has long been a part of the local landscape and folklore. While there isn't extensive documented history, the falls have been a significant natural feature in the Wayanad region for centuries. The indigenous communities likely revered the falls and the surrounding forests. Over time, as Wayanad became more accessible, Meenmutty Falls gained recognition as a tourist destination. Its natural beauty and the challenging trek required to reach it have added to its allure. Today, the falls are a protected area, and efforts are made to preserve the natural ecosystem surrounding them.
Amazing falls. Entry fee is Rs. 50 per head. This waterfall has awesome view from the top. The water looks very clean. Worth spending half a day here.
I went in November 2024, Entering the water is fully permitted (may change with season), well maintained with guards as well. Parking area is available near ticket counter. Rs. 65 for adults.
Temporarily closed due to on going incidents of wild animals attacking people of wynad district. The road towards the parking area is closed for work. Otherwise the approach road is very narrow and the parking area is not so big. The view towards the place is beautiful with tea plantations on both sides. There is another view point close to this place. Best time to visit would be during or immediately after monsoon. Entry fee - Adult 50, Child 30 Rs
"I recently visited Meenmutty Waterfalls in Makkiyad, Wayanad, and had a wonderful experience! Although the ticket charge was slightly higher than expected, the cool and calm atmosphere made it well worth it. The waterfall is situated in front of a stunning tea estate, which added to the beauty of the location. I was particularly captivated by the lush greenery of the estate. Amenities include: - Parking space for 20-30 cars and other vehicles - Accessible by car, traveller , bike and small bus (note: narrow road) Overall, Meenmutty Waterfalls is an ideal spot to unwind and connect with nature.
