We recently visited this Kathakali and Kalari center, and it was a fascinating experience. The ticket price is ₹300 per person for each show (₹600 total), and both performances last for 1 hour each. Kathakali Performance: We expected to see traditional dance, but instead, the performance depicted a mythological tale through hand gestures, facial expressions, and body movements. It was an interesting way of storytelling, showcasing the depth of this ancient art form. While it was different from what we initially expected, it was still a unique experience. Kalari Show: This was the highlight of our visit! The performance was intense and thrilling, with incredible martial arts moves. The best part was the fire show, which was truly breathtaking and showcased the performers’ skill and bravery. If you’re interested in Kerala’s traditional arts and culture, this place is worth a visit. However, if you’re expecting a typical dance performance in Kathakali, keep in mind that it’s more about storytelling through expressions and gestures. Overall, we had a great time, and the Kalari show was definitely a must-watch!

I recently had the privilege of attending a Kathakali performance at the Kadathanadan Kalari & Navarasa Kathakali Centre in Thekkady, Kerala, and it was an unforgettable experience. The centre is dedicated to preserving and promoting the ancient art form of Kathakali, and it's a must-visit destination for anyone interested in Indian classical dance and music. The performance we attended were a traditional Kathakali show, at 05:00 PM which told the story of a mythological tale through intricate hand gestures, facial expressions, and body movements. The artists were incredibly skilled and passionate, and their energy was infectious. We were completely mesmerized by the show, and the audience was fully engaged throughout the performance. The second performance we attended was of Kalaripayattu (an ancient martial art form). We were mesmerized with the unique presentation of the martial artists. All the persons involved in the act were highly skilled and made the environment electrifying with their performance. Overall, I highly recommend the Kadathanadan Kalari & Navarasa Kathakali Centre to everyone. The centre is a treasure trove of traditional art and culture, and the performances are a great way to experience and learn about these ancient art form. Very good experience. PS: It is recommended to purchase the tickets from online portal in advance for both the shows as the place is generally very crowded with tourists.

Visited the place on 21st December 2024 with family. Online booking facility is available and recommended during the busy season. Ticket 300+300 for both shows that is Kalari and Kathakali. You will have to show the online booking confirmation and take the ticket at entrance once you reach the venue which is in the city and nearer to Periyar Park booking counter and entrance. You can see the makeup of artist on the stage itself before the actual show starts. Overall good experience and enjoyed both the performances.

The one-hour performance was captivating from start to finish, with each act more impressive than the last. The fire stunts were especially jaw-dropping and left us in awe.
