    History

Prag Mahal was commissioned by Maharaja Pragmalji II in 1865 and completed in 1879. Designed by British architect Colonel Henry Saint Wilkins, it was built with Italian marble and sandstone. The palace was intended to reflect the grandeur and prosperity of the Kutch region. It withstood the devastating 2001 earthquake, although it suffered significant damage. Restoration efforts have been undertaken to preserve this historical landmark. The palace continues to stand as a testament to the architectural prowess of the time and the royal patronage of the region. It has also served as a filming location for Bollywood movies, adding to its cultural significance.
