The Chattardi complex was built over several centuries, with each cenotaph representing a different ruler of the Jadeja dynasty of Kutch. The earliest structures date back to the 16th century, while others were added later. These cenotaphs were not only memorials but also served as places of worship and gatherings. The architectural styles evolved over time, reflecting different influences and periods. The complex was damaged during the 2001 earthquake, but restoration work has been undertaken to preserve these historical monuments. It stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the rulers of Kutch.
