The Patna Museum was established during the British Raj in 1917 to house the archaeological finds from the region. It was initially conceived as a provincial museum to preserve and showcase the rich heritage of Bihar. The museum's collection grew significantly over the years, incorporating artifacts from various periods of Indian history, including the Mauryan, Gupta, and Pala dynasties. The museum has played a crucial role in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Bihar and has become an important center for research and education. It has undergone several renovations and expansions to accommodate its growing collection and to enhance the visitor experience.
