The Japanese Peace Pagoda in Darjeeling is one of several peace pagodas built around the world by the Nipponzan-Myōhōji Buddhist order. Construction began in 1972 and was completed in 1992. Nichidatsu Fujii, a Buddhist monk and founder of the order, initiated the project as part of his mission to promote world peace through Buddhism. The pagoda's location in Darjeeling was chosen for its scenic beauty and spiritual significance. It serves as a reminder of the importance of peace and non-violence, and attracts visitors from diverse backgrounds seeking tranquility and spiritual solace.
