Batasia Loop was constructed in 1919 as part of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The loop was designed to overcome the steep gradient of the mountain slope. It's said that the engineers initially struggled with the sharp incline, and the circular design emerged as an ingenious solution. The war memorial at the center was later added to honor the Gorkha soldiers who sacrificed their lives in various wars. Over the years, Batasia Loop has become a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors with its unique railway feature and stunning views.
