History
Established in 1965, in the aftermath of the 1962 Indo-China War, the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering was conceived to instill courage, confidence, and patriotism in the youth of India. Named after the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, the institute aimed to promote mountaineering as a means of character building and adventure.
