Originally established in Tibet in 1676 by Rigzin Terdak Lingpa, the Mindrolling Monastery was one of the six major monasteries of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. It was re-established in Dehradun in 1965 by Khochhen Rinpoche, along with a group of monks, following the Chinese invasion of Tibet. The monastery has since become a significant center for the preservation and propagation of Tibetan culture and Buddhist teachings. The Great Stupa, a relatively recent addition, was completed in 2002 and stands as a symbol of peace and harmony. The monastery continues to attract students, practitioners, and visitors from around the world, contributing to the vibrant spiritual landscape of Dehradun.
