The Tripura Sundari Temple is believed to have been built by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya of the Manikya dynasty in 1501 AD. Legend has it that the Maharaja had a divine dream instructing him to install the idol of Goddess Tripura Sundari at this location. The temple has undergone several renovations and expansions over the centuries, reflecting the changing architectural styles and patronage of subsequent rulers. The Kalyan Sagar lake adjacent to the temple is also historically significant, believed to have been excavated during the reign of Maharaja Kalyan Manikya. The temple has remained a central place of worship and cultural significance for the people of Tripura for centuries.
