The Government Rose Garden was established in 1995 to commemorate the centenary of the Ooty Flower Show. The garden was designed by the renowned landscape architect, Dr. M.S. Viraraghavan. The garden was initially spread over 10 acres and housed over 2,000 varieties of roses. Over the years, the garden has been expanded to its current size of 4 hectares and houses over 20,000 varieties of roses. The garden has won several awards, including the Garden of Excellence Award from the World Federation of Rose Societies in 2006.

There are very intersting name s one can even imagine. Margaret thatcher. Tina Turner are some of those. There are benches and small canopies for those who wish to sit and rest. Basic wash room inside the park Enough parking space for cars There is a sales out let selling rose plants. pickles squashes and eucalyptus oil for govt prices. Black rose is a celebrated variety but as per the horticulturist the plant is lost and they are budding it in the nursery. Green rose and violet are some other ones to look for
I visited the Rose Garden in Ooty and had a fantastic time. The different varieties of rose flowers were amazing, with so many colors and types to see. But what I liked the most were the Bottle Gourd trees. They were placed perfectly and really added something special to the garden. The whole place looked great because of those trees. If you love flowers and cool garden designs, you should definitely visit the Rose Garden!
This Garden is one of the most popular spot in Ooty with large variety of rose family. The ticket price is quiet high around 70 Rs and it was not worth in the month of september when we visited as there were very less flowers in the garden. There are few spots for photos.
One of most beautiful places in Ooty and if you love trees and roses then it’s a must visit it costs around 75 per person and the area is huge you can see a wide variety of roses not only Indian but also around the world and the place will be Pleasant And if it drizzles a bit of rain it will be lake heaven to watch 😍. It is maintained by the government of Tamil Nadu so don’t expect so much hospitality but the maintenance is good
