    History

The Adiyogi Shiva Statue was conceptualized by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the founder of Isha Foundation, as a tribute to Adiyogi, the origin of yoga. Construction began in 2016 and was completed within a remarkably short period. The statue is made of steel and was designed to withstand the elements for centuries. It was inaugurated on February 24, 2017, by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind. Since its unveiling, the statue has become a major tourist attraction and a symbol of spiritual significance. Isha Foundation regularly conducts events and programs around the statue to promote yoga and inner peace. The site's rapid rise in popularity has made it a landmark destination in Coimbatore and a significant representation of Indian spirituality.
