Pushkar Lake's history is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology. Legend says that Lord Brahma, the creator god, dropped a lotus flower to the earth, creating the lake. He then performed a yagna (sacred fire ritual) at Pushkar, making it a sacred pilgrimage site. The lake has been mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures like the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Over centuries, numerous temples and ghats have been built around the lake, adding to its religious significance. The Pushkar Fair, dating back centuries, further cemented its place as a prominent cultural and religious hub.
