Ana Sagar Lake was built by Arnoraja Chauhan, the grandfather of the famous warrior Prithviraj Chauhan, between 1135 and 1150 AD. Originally named Anasagar, after the king, it was constructed by damming the Luni River. During the Mughal era, Emperor Shah Jahan further beautified the lake area by adding pavilions, gardens, and fountains, enhancing its appeal. The lake served as a vital water source for the city and continues to be an important landmark.
