Bala Fort's history stretches back to the pre-Mughal era, with its foundations believed to have been laid by the Nikumbh Rajputs in the 15th century. Over the centuries, the fort changed hands, witnessing the rise and fall of various dynasties, including the Mughals, Marathas, and Jats. Mughal emperors Babur and Akbar are known to have stayed at the fort. It served as a strategic stronghold, controlling access to the region. The Kachwaha Rajputs of Amber (later Jaipur) eventually gained control of Alwar and the fort. The fort's strategic importance gradually declined, and it was eventually abandoned. Today, it stands as a silent testament to Alwar's rich and turbulent past, offering visitors a glimpse into the lives of the rulers and warriors who once called it home.
