The Jagannath Temple in Berhampur was established to provide a local alternative for devotees unable to travel to Puri. Its construction was inspired by the original Jagannath Temple, aiming to replicate its architectural style and religious practices. Over the years, the temple has grown in significance, becoming a focal point for religious and cultural activities in the region. Local communities have actively contributed to its upkeep and expansion, ensuring its continued prominence. The temple's history is intertwined with the socio-cultural fabric of Berhampur, reflecting the deep-rooted faith and devotion of the people. While not as ancient as the Puri temple, it holds a special place in the hearts of the local population.
It's an old temple which is famous for Havan's and Shradha.. Many Purohits are available throughout the place (temple surrounding area)... Lord Shiva, Lord Jagannath along with many different Devi Devta's are there inside.. It's really peaceful inside the temple... There is an mandap for prasad sevan also... Lots of parking place is available...
Special place as my cousin brother got married here. Good for budget marriage. Arrangements are fine but cleanliness takes a big back seat, the walls need to get white washed and the marriage halls looks very old and not so well maintained.
Old temple and people are getting good service at a reasonable rate. All kind of religious practices are performed here like Shraddha, brahmana bhojana, puja and Abhishek.
