    History

The history of Chatushrungi Temple is steeped in local folklore. Legend says that a wealthy merchant named Durlabhsheth Pitambardas Mahajan was a devout follower of Goddess Saptashrungi. As he grew older, he found it difficult to travel to Vani (where Saptashrungi is located). The Goddess appeared in his dream and instructed him to build a temple on the four-peaked mountain near Pune. Following her divine guidance, Durlabhsheth constructed the Chatushrungi Temple in the 18th century. Over the years, the temple has been renovated and expanded, with contributions from various devotees and trusts. It remains a significant religious landmark in Pune, drawing devotees seeking blessings and spiritual solace.
