The Olive Ridley sea turtles have been nesting on Diveagar beach for generations. However, increasing human activity, stray dogs, and other predators threatened their survival. Recognizing the urgent need for conservation, local villagers and NGOs initiated the Diveagar Sea Turtle Hatchery project. They started by collecting turtle eggs from the beach and reburying them in a protected area within the hatchery. Over time, the project has grown, involving more volunteers and raising awareness among the local community and tourists. The hatchery has successfully released thousands of baby turtles into the ocean, contributing significantly to the conservation of this endangered species. The project serves as a model for community-based conservation efforts, demonstrating the positive impact of local involvement in protecting natural resources.
