The Birla Mandir in Bhopal was commissioned by the Birla family, a prominent industrial family in India known for their philanthropic contributions, including the construction of several temples across the country. Construction of the Bhopal temple began in 1971 and was completed in 1984. The temple complex not only houses the Lakshmi-Narayan temple but also includes a Shiva temple and a museum. The museum showcases a collection of sculptures from Raisen, Sehore, Mandsaur, and Shahdol districts of Madhya Pradesh, dating back to the Paramara period (10th-13th century AD). The temple has since become a significant landmark in Bhopal, attracting devotees and tourists alike.
