    History

Established in 1987, Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary gets its name from the towering Kumara Parvatha peak, a sacred site for Hindu pilgrims. The sanctuary was created to conserve the unique flora and fauna of the region, which was facing threats due to human encroachment and habitat loss. Today, it stands as a testament to conservation efforts, protecting several endangered species and serving as a vital corridor connecting other protected areas in the Western Ghats.

A recent visit to this place was a delightful escape into nature's beauty. The sanctuary boasts a diverse array of wildlife in their natural habitat. A usable trail making is easy to to explore and walk through the forest, surrounded by lush greenery. A perfect weekend walk through the natural world. Am eager to return here, it also has a water falls in it.. Should appreciate the forest department for good maintenance, they have kept the place so clean you won't even find a single paper piece anywhere around..

Pushpagiri biosphere i.e Kumaraparvata is one of the best and toughest trekking in the south India . According to Hindu mythology here Lord Kartikeya killed tarakasura here . Totally 12 to 13km of trekking , one will witness Deep forest climbing , grassland hill climbing and rock climbing. This is the package of adventure. One should pay 425 for the trekking and shoukd keep 500 deposit for plastic and it will be returned as one have correct number of plastics . Intention is to make our reserve forest free from plastic and it is maintained very well by the @forestdepartment . At the top you will get the heavenly satisfaction 😍

Kumara parvatha trek is one of the toughest treks. The trek has different vegetation: dense forest for about 2 hours and then the next 1 hour trek is through the grassland. camp for the night and enjoy the sunset(Very scenic). The next day, start early and continue towards shesha parvatha, the view from here is amazing. The next 1 hour trek is inside the forest and moment you reach the peak, you can see and feel the fog all over. The clouds will literally be below us. It offers breathtaking views.

It's a thick forest area. Scenery is amazing. Best place to feel relaxed. It's not a crowded place because of that it's very peaceful in there. Roads are small but it's good. Highly recommended.
