Tadiyandamol Peak's name is derived from local language, with "Thaadi" meaning beard and "Andamole" meaning deep pit or valley, possibly referring to the peak's appearance or surrounding terrain. The area has historically been inhabited by various indigenous communities, and the peak likely held cultural or spiritual significance. While no major historical events are directly linked to the peak itself, the surrounding Coorg region has a rich history dating back centuries, including periods under the rule of various dynasties and the British Raj. The peak's relative isolation and natural beauty have preserved its ecological importance and made it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and trekkers.
Trekking is one of the most mesmerizing things to do. Tadiyandamol was an exciting trek with moderate difficulty. A lot of view points are there also reaching the hill top and looking at the long horizon of mountains with clouds will be mind blowing. The forest department charges 250 per person, camping on the top of the mountain is not allowed but you can stay near the check post. I can share their contact number.
Views are stunning, since it started raining, one has to deal with leaches so take proper care. One can trek from bottom or can take jeep till view point and from there has to trek till peak. It's an easy trek except for last portion where dense forest and steep area starts. Sometimes you can see reptiles, so be careful. One should buy ticket, it's 250rs per person. Enjoy trekking!
The whole trek is about 4-5 hours (to and fro) depending upon speed. As you climb uphill, you can see the beautiful hills. It is advisable to start the trek early in the morning at around 6/7am and be back before it gets too sunny.
It's the highest peak in Madikeri and third highest in Karnataka. From the base to the peak it's 4km trek which involves a 1.5km steep inclination. It's a part of Brahamgiri Mount. Entry fee is 250 per head. It's a plastic free zone, and please remember to keep the place clean.
