Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary

The area now known as Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary has a long history of human interaction and forest management. Before being declared a sanctuary, the forests were primarily used for timber extraction and agricultural purposes. Recognizing the ecological significance and the need to protect the region's biodiversity, the Karnataka government declared it a wildlife sanctuary in 1987.
