The Jakhoo Ropeway was inaugurated in 2017 to provide easier access to the Jakhoo Temple, situated atop Jakhoo Hill, the highest peak in Shimla. Previously, reaching the temple required a steep and challenging climb. The ropeway project aimed to improve connectivity and promote tourism in the area. Its construction involved overcoming logistical challenges due to the hill's terrain. Since its opening, the ropeway has become a significant attraction, significantly reducing travel time and effort for visitors while offering spectacular views during the journey.
I was very disappointed by the whole experience. First , the location is v v far and a steep walk from where the taxie drops you. The ropeway charges were high ! The waiting area was extremely shabby and smelled of burnt popcorn, very suffocating. The ropeway glass was not clean so the view wasn’t visible properly. The place has honestly so much scope but no maintenance.
The Jakhu Ropeway in Shimla offers a breathtaking experience that's not to be missed. This aerial lift takes you on a scenic journey to the summit of Jakhu Hill, where the iconic Jakhu Temple is located.
It's good... the scenic views are great... but not that majestic... you will enjoy the temple though. I would suggest to take the ropeway to go up and come down on foot or public vehicle. For public vehicle charges are around 20Rs per head. Beware of thugs.
It was a great view and it took 10 mins to reach the temple .... Ticket price in Oct.'24 265 PP for one way & 490/- Oct.'24 265 PP for both ways .
