Built in 1888, the Viceregal Lodge served as the summer residence of the British Viceroy of India. It witnessed crucial moments in Indian history, including the Simla Conference of 1945. After independence, it briefly housed the Punjab High Court before becoming the Indian Institute of Advanced Study in 1965. Today, the institute is a hub for scholars pursuing research in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. It continues to play a vital role in intellectual discourse and academic pursuits, while also preserving a significant piece of India's historical heritage.
