Christ Church was built over a span of eleven years, from 1870 to 1881, to serve the growing British community in Shimla, then the summer capital of British India. Designed by Colonel J. T. Boileau in the neo-Gothic style, it is the second oldest church in North India. The church's pipe organ, installed in 1883, is one of the largest in the country. Over the years, the church has become an integral part of Shimla's history and heritage, witnessing significant events and changes in the city.
