The brewery's story began in the 1820s when Edward Dyer established it to provide affordable beer to British troops stationed in India. The location was chosen for its access to fresh spring water, crucial for brewing. Initially known as Dyer Breweries, it later merged with Meakin Breweries in 1949 to become Mohan Meakin. The brewery played a significant role in popularizing beer in India. Over time, production shifted to larger, more modern facilities, but the Kasauli brewery retains its historical significance. It stands as a testament to India's brewing heritage and the enduring legacy of Edward Dyer's vision.
