Purana Qila has a layered history, believed to be the site of Indraprastha, the ancient capital of the Pandavas. It was rebuilt by Sher Shah Suri in the 16th century after he defeated Humayun, and the Qila-i-Kuhna Mosque was constructed within its walls. Humayun later reclaimed the fort and added structures like the Sher Mandal, which served as a library. The fort witnessed further developments under the Mughal emperors. Today, it stands as a silent witness to centuries of power struggles and cultural transitions, reflecting the rich tapestry of Delhi's past.
