Leisure Valley is an integral part of Chandigarh's original urban plan envisioned by Le Corbusier. The concept was to create a continuous green belt throughout the city, providing residents with easy access to nature and recreational spaces. Over the years, different sections of the valley were developed, each with its unique character and purpose. The Rose Garden, established in 1967, became a major attraction, followed by Shanti Kunj, designed as a peaceful retreat. The Terraced Garden, with its illuminated fountains, added another dimension to the valley. Leisure Valley has evolved into a cherished landmark, reflecting the city's dedication to preserving its green heritage and providing a healthy and vibrant environment for its citizens.
