Originally known as Sangetsar Tso, meaning ‘blind lake’ in the Monpa dialect, the lake was renamed Madhuri Lake after the filming of the Bollywood movie 'Koyla' starring Madhuri Dixit. The serene and picturesque location gained popularity after the movie's release, attracting tourists from all over. The lake holds significance for the local Monpa tribe, who consider it a sacred site.
