Ganga Lake, or Gyakar Sinyi, is a natural lake that holds significance for the local tribal communities. While not steeped in grand historical events, its existence is intertwined with the folklore and traditions of the region. The lake has been a source of water and sustenance for generations, and it's considered a sacred place by some. The name 'Ganga' is a more recent addition, reflecting its importance and beauty. The surrounding area has been protected to preserve the natural beauty and ecological balance, ensuring that the lake remains a serene getaway for visitors. The lake's history is more about its natural and cultural significance than recorded events.
This is a beautiful lake within the hills which has a park too. With a nominal fee, you can enjoy a peaceful walk through nature. There are people doing construction work here and you can come with your family. Located in the capital region, this lake is a must visit for tourists coming to Itanagar. But, for people having joint problems and breathing issues, avoid this place as it has a huge number of steps to climb.
Nice place to visit with family and friends. Loved to visit this place. The way to reach is nice however I will not recommend to visit if u r having heart or lungs issues. Not feasible to reach this place for physically handicapped/divyangjan people.
This is one of the best places to visit in Itanagar for tourists. Lake is surrounded by the beautiful green hills and greenery all around. Geykar Sinyik means confined water. There is an entry ticket of Rs 50 for adults. Lake opens at 10 am and closes at 4 pm. We have to climb around 60-70 steps to reach the lake view point from the entry point. Boating facilities are also available in this lake.
Geker Sinying or popularly called as Ganga Lake is a huge natural lake about 10km away from Itanagar town. There is a walkway around the lake & also boating can be done. However since it was mid day it was too hot to do any boating. Itanagar is a very hot town. This is one of the few tourist places in Itanagar but it is sad to see that the place was not properly maintained or developed further. What was even more sad were the terrible roads leading to it which were half a knee deep in mud. This place has a lot of scope to be the main attraction of Itanagar if only the roads were repaired & maintained.
