Gun Hill derived its name from a cannon located here during the British Raj. Every day at noon, a shot was fired from the cannon, serving as a time signal for the town. This practice allowed residents to synchronize their watches. While the cannon is no longer fired, the name Gun Hill persists. The area has evolved from a strategic vantage point to a popular tourist destination, offering stunning views and a glimpse into Mussoorie's colonial past. The cable car, added later, has further enhanced its accessibility and appeal.
