Assi Ghat holds immense historical and mythological significance. It is believed to be the place where the sage Durvasa, angered by Lord Shiva, threw his sword into the Assi River. The ghat is also mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures like the Matsya Purana and the Agni Purana. In more recent history, Assi Ghat became a center of social and political activity during India's struggle for independence. Today, it continues to be a place where people from all walks of life gather, fostering a sense of community and cultural exchange.
Really lovely hotel. Highly recommend. Excellent location for exploring along the river and into the city. Nice clean rooms with AC and hot water. Excellent food available at the restaurant (either downstairs or on the roof), friendly, kind, and helpful staff. Would stay here again!
Great location. Just on Assi Ghat. With river view from balconies of all floors. Extremely clean and nicely decorated rooms. With all amenities such as mini fridge, kettle, water heater. Nice rooftop restaurant. The staff is extremely hospitable and helpful. Overall we had an excellent stay
Bad experience overall. It's more a rundown guest house, nothing special. Rooms are not clean and way over priced. Not worth it at all. The person at reception was rude - insisting on us taking their boat ride. He also randomly called us in the room, while we were sleeping and disturbed us asking about boat rides. Also insisted on us paying cash else he will charge us tax. What a cheat!
Amazing experience right on the Assi Ghat, the sunrise each day through my room facing Gangaji was mystical. The service is prompt and the staff is welcoming. To add grace , i got an opportunity to have a mindful conversation with the owner of the property over a cup of tea. Indeed an excellent experience!
