    History

The history of Radha Kund is deeply intertwined with the legends of Radha and Krishna. According to the scriptures, Krishna killed the demon Aristasura, who appeared in the form of a bull. To absolve himself of the sin of killing a bull (considered sacred), Krishna was advised to take a bath in all the holy rivers. However, Radha and the gopis playfully refused, stating that Krishna had committed a grave sin. Krishna then created a kund (pond) by striking the ground with his heel, summoning all the holy rivers to fill it. Radha and the gopis, in turn, created their own kund, Shyama Kund, with their bangles. Eventually, Krishna declared Radha Kund to be superior to all other holy places, making it a revered site for devotees.
