    History

Barua Sagar Fort was built by Raja Udit Singh of Orchha around 300 years ago. The fort witnessed a significant battle in 1744 when the Marathas defeated the Bundelas. Following the battle, Barua Sagar came under Maratha control. The fort's strategic location made it an important defensive structure during various conflicts in the region. Over time, the fort fell into disrepair, and much of its original structure has been lost. However, the remaining ruins still stand as a testament to the fort's historical significance and the power struggles that shaped the region's destiny. The fort and the nearby Barua Sagar lake are intrinsically linked, with the lake serving as a crucial water source and a defensive barrier.
