Construction of Fatehpur Sikri, including Daulat Khana, began in 1571 by Emperor Akbar, honoring the Sufi saint Sheikh Salim Chisti. The city served as the Mughal capital from 1571 to 1585. Daulat Khana was specifically designed as Akbar's private residence and administrative center. Here, he conducted state affairs, met with advisors, and received dignitaries. After Akbar's death and the shift of the capital to Lahore, Fatehpur Sikri was gradually abandoned. Over time, the palaces and structures within the complex, including Daulat Khana, suffered neglect but have since been partially restored, offering a glimpse into the opulent Mughal era.
