Legend has it that Kanak Bhavan was gifted to Sita by Lord Rama's stepmother, Kaikeyi, after their marriage. The original structure is believed to have been built several centuries ago. However, the temple was later renovated and expanded by Vrish Bhanu Kunwari, a queen from the Orchha kingdom, in 1891. The architecture reflects a blend of Bundela and Rajput styles, showcasing the region's rich cultural heritage. Over the years, Kanak Bhavan has undergone several restorations, preserving its historical and religious significance. It remains a testament to the devotion and artistry of the past.
