Pilak Historical Palace (Shyam Sundar Ashram)

Pilak's history stretches back to the late ancient and early medieval periods, serving as an important center of religious and cultural exchange. The site flourished under the patronage of local rulers who embraced both Hinduism and Buddhism. Archaeological excavations have revealed a wealth of sculptures, terracotta plaques, and structural remains that attest to the region's artistic and religious fervor. Over time, Pilak's importance declined, and the site was eventually abandoned. Rediscovered in modern times, Pilak is now a protected archaeological site, offering valuable insights into the history of Tripura and the broader cultural landscape of Northeast India. The Shyam Sundar Ashram area specifically preserves a concentration of these historical artifacts.
