Established in 1967, Amirthi Zoological Park was primarily created to conserve the local flora and fauna of the Amirthi region in Vellore district. Initially, it served as a small sanctuary for indigenous animals and plants. Over the years, the park expanded its collection of animals and improved its infrastructure to attract tourists and promote wildlife conservation. The park has played a crucial role in raising awareness about the importance of preserving the region's biodiversity. It has become a popular destination for educational tours and recreational visits, contributing to the local economy and fostering a deeper appreciation for nature among the community. It's continued development has focused on providing better habitats for the animals and enhancing the visitor experience.
