Built in 1936 by a European lady who converted to Hinduism and took the name Leelavathi, the Kurinji Andavar Temple is relatively modern. Fascinated by the Kurinji flower and its connection to Lord Muruga, she dedicated the temple to him. The temple's architecture blends traditional Tamil style with elements influenced by the local Palani hills temples. Over the years, the temple has become an important pilgrimage site and a significant landmark of Kodaikanal, drawing devotees and tourists alike to witness its unique charm and the natural wonder of the Kurinji bloom.
