Sim's Park was established in 1874 by J.D. Sim, the Secretary to the Madras Government, and Major Murray, the Acting Superintendent of the Nilgiri Botanical Garden. Initially conceived as a pleasure resort for the British, the park was developed to showcase a variety of plant species not typically found in the Nilgiris. Many of the original trees and shrubs were introduced from different parts of the world, contributing to the park's unique biodiversity. Over the years, Sim's Park has evolved into a prominent botanical garden and a popular tourist attraction. It has undergone several improvements and expansions, but its original charm and purpose as a haven for plant life have remained intact.
