Nawalgarh, often called the 'Golden City of Shekhawati,' flourished as a trading center in the 18th and 19th centuries. The wealthy merchants, primarily from the Marwari community, built these elaborate havelis to showcase their prosperity and social standing. The Jat Haveli, like other havelis in the region, was commissioned by a prominent Jat family. The frescoes were typically painted by local artisans, who drew inspiration from a variety of sources, including religious texts, folklore, and contemporary events. The decline of the merchant class in the 20th century led to the abandonment of many havelis, but some, like the Jat Haveli, have been preserved as a testament to the region's rich artistic and architectural heritage.
