Qila Mubarak's history spans over 2000 years, with its origins traced back to the Kushan dynasty. It has witnessed the rise and fall of various empires, including the Ghaznavids, the Mughals, and the Sikh rulers. The fort gained prominence during the Delhi Sultanate when Razia Sultan, the only female ruler of Delhi, was imprisoned here in 1240 AD after being defeated in a battle. The fort's strategic location made it a crucial defense point, and it underwent several renovations and expansions under different rulers. In the 18th century, the fort came under the control of the Patiala State and played a significant role in the Sikh empire. Today, Qila Mubarak stands as a symbol of resilience and a reminder of the region's tumultuous past.
